Pastor hurt in bus accident
Pastor Mark was not seriously hurt recently in a school bus accident that involved the bus he was driving and another driver that rear-ended his bus at a high rate of speed. The bus was stopped letting students off at a given stop when a driver coming out of nowhere failed to stop and rear-ended the bus doing between 35-45 mph. The rear of the bus took the brunt of the accident. Two students were examined at the scene and released and three were transported to the local hospital and released. The pastor after making sure the students were safe and not seriously hurt, began to find out that his shoulder, which was forced into the side window frame was hurt. He was examined and x-rayed to find nothing was broken. It was found that he had suffered torn muscles in his neck and left shoulder. He was given bed rest and strong meds. The test also showed that he had an enlarged thyroid. Further test on the thyroid showed everything normal. He hopes to return to work after a week's rest.
Snow, Snow and more Snow
Dragoon, Feb. 15-- After all the years of dryness, the second snow of the winter season for 2008 continues to fall. Accidents between Dragoon and Benson are numerous. Weather reports predict that Dragoon should with this recent storm receive between 3 & 6 inches as the snow continues to fall all day long. Fortunately, the church has continued to stay dry this year as we have allowed the faucets to drip and the heaters to keep things between 65-70 degrees.
Classic Car Show set for May 24
The Second Annual Classic Car Show at the church is scheduled for Saturday, May 24 (Memorial Day weekend). Cars and motorcycles from across Arizona, California and a few other states participated last year and this year's show is promised to be even larger. Food, and a variety of other activities are planned for this year's event to include a special "model car" class. Special shirts, trophies and exceptional non-partisan judging is just a few of the things that are planned. Everybody is invited to this free family outing. There is a small fee for entries. So, mark your calendar to come and spend Saturday, May 24 with the Dragoon Baptist family as they host the Second Annual Classic Car Show.
Wanda Sells House After nearly a year of waiting, Sister Wanda Speer finally got a contract on her house here in Dragoon. We know that she wants to be near her children but she will be leaving her church family. We wish her well and hopefully her sister can also sell her home in Florida and join Wanda in Tucson. The church has continued to lose people like Wanda to moves to Tucson or out of state. We hope this will be incentive for others to come and join us as we celebrate Jesus together. We Love You Wanda!
Grand Jury Nabs Pastor for 120 day Stint
Pastor Mark was recently selected for a 120-day stint on the Cochise County Grand Jury located 70-miles away in Bisbee. Not the greatest of jobs for a mere $12 per day. "The wood seats are hard on the backside especially when they hold you for more than 12 hours trying to decide a number of cases." He will be released from this job sometime in August pending good behavior or they form a new Grand Jury.

| | Pizza Throw-Down
A challenge as to who makes the best pizza was issued for Friday, March 28 at 6:30pm. There were 14 entries. Some came pre-made and others made or baked their special entry at church. The voting was done by all those that came to enjoy the evening. The People's Choice Awards were as follows: 1st place with an Italian remedy to the standard Gringo pizza was Benson High School junior Steve Nastazio. A close second, only edged out by one vote was Randy Williams with his dessert pizza that had plenty of apples and other sweet-tooth toppings. Third place was won by Jude Andrews and fourth by Kathy Stevens. It was a great night of food, fun, fellowship and laughs.
